WHAT IS THIS "BOOT CAMP" THING YOU SPEAK OF?

 

Boot camp is a quick, effective HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout designed to help you gain strength, endurance, and to continue burning calories long after you're done! You can expect to burn anywhere from 300-800 calories each workout. This is what it will look like: Depending on which session you choose, both start PROMPTLY at 5:30 a.m. or 8:30 a.m., and last from 35-40 minutes. You show up (about five minutes or so EARLY to set up), ready to kill it, we will warm up while the workout is explained, we kill it, then we will stretch. Done. Just like that. Fair warning, however, that you will sweat, probably give me the stink-eye now and again, but you WILL NOT regret it! Will it be hard? Yep. Will you live to tell the tale? Yep. Will you die? Nope.  I think so many people are intimitated by the words "boot camp", however, it doesn't have to be scary. I can modify any exercise and you do not have to worry about keeping up or slowing others down. This is about YOU! If your endurance isn't that great, that's okay, you'll get there eventually. If don't feel that strong, just wait! Stick with it and before long, you'll be marveling at the fact that you will be able to do things you couldn't at the beginning. I have seen it with my own eyes and have experienced it myself. I also do every workout that you do, so I will know first-hand what you are feeling! Being nervous is normal, and GOOD! We all need to be a little nervous about something. It makes you realize that you can step out of your comfort zone and prove that you are way stronger than you think!

 

WHAT TIME DO WE MEET AND WHAT IS THE PRICE?

 

We meet every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and there are two sessions to choose from: 5:30 a.m. (6:00 a.m. during summer months) or 8:30 a.m. I realize many people need to head off to work and/or get the kiddos to school following the workout, so we start PROMTLY at each session time. Please arrive at least five minutes early to set up. The price is $99 per month, to be paid on the 1st of the month or at the beginning of each new session.

 

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

 

I suppose this is were I could get cheesy and tell you to bring "a good attitude" or "determination and motivation", but let's face it, it's going to be early and some days we just don't feel it. While those things are WAY important, it's not always easy to wake up feeling motivated. That's okay! Lay it on me! By the time you're done with your workout, I'm pretty sure you'll change your mind. In the meantime, this is what you will really need:

 

  • Weights (two sets of different weights are recommended for progression, but not necessary)

  • Exercise mat

  • Workout gloves

  • Water bottle

  • Towel

  • Resistance or “Swiss” Ball (this is not necessary to bring to every session, you will be notified via text and/or email when you will need to bring it)

 

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

 

Comfortable, moveable, breathable clothing! Nothing expensive, you’re going to get dirty and sweaty! Good trainers (shoes), no skate shoes or “steppers” as those can compromise your balance.  Men often prefer to wear compression shorts under their regular shorts. And ladies, a good, supportive sports bra...you’re welcome.

 

WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO ME???

 

Nothing but good stuff! As noted above, each session will consist of a HIIT workout. In other words, we’re going to keep your heart rate fluctuating for optimal results. Burn, baby, burn! However, with that said, you may occasionally experience dizziness or nausea, which is totally normal and it will pass! It’s okay to stop! Remember, all exercises can be modified to suit your fitness level!

 

WHAT IS THE PAYMENT POLICY?

 

Payments are due at the beginning of each month or at the beginning of a new monthly session. Monthly session run $99 per month for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. There is a “drop-in” rate of $10 per session if you would just like to come every now and again. Once monthly fee has been paid, no refunds will be given; however, if you know you will be going on vacation or will be taking a significant time off any given month, you may let me know before payment is due and I will prorate the time you will be away! Sick days or no-shows will not be refunded. 

 

WHAT IF IT IS RAINING?

 

Rain? What’s that? But, yes, we do experience water from the sky occasionally; however, if it is just a light mist, we’re getting wet! If we have a torrential downpour, I have secured a Plan B indoor location. You will be notified the evening before (or morning of depending on if we have an unexpected wet one) via text.  Please ALWAYS make sure to check your phone before heading out prior to the workout!
